It was our mom’s birthday this past weekend and she wanted nothing more than to eat an old-fashioned buttermilk glazed donut. I knew I was capable of finding her this donut in a shop, but I also wanted to create one for her cake! So, with help from, I used Robyn’s recipe for the most chocolatey, moist cake, but switched the frosting to her fudge icing to get the donut glaze look. Then, a few rainbow sprinkles pulled the whole look together. While it wasn’t Mom’s buttermilk glazed dream, I’d say she was pretty happy with her oversized, chocolate on chocolate donut cake!
