It was our mom’s birthday this past weekend and she wanted nothing more than to eat an old-fashioned buttermilk glazed donut. I knew I was capable of finding her this donut in a shop, but I also wanted to create one for her cake! So, with help from addapinch.com, I used Robyn’s recipe for the most chocolatey, moist cake, but switched the frosting to her fudge icing to get the donut glaze look. Then, a few rainbow sprinkles pulled the whole look together. While it wasn’t Mom’s buttermilk glazed dream, I’d say she was pretty happy with her oversized, chocolate on chocolate donut cake!

It was the best birthday cake a donut lover could ask for! Beautiful and delicious, too!
